This year, Chanukah, Solstice, and Christmas - three holidays that celebrate light, miracles and gathering fall in the same week.
I’m celebrating with an intimate, sacred circle honouring these themes plus an invitation to rest and ease for this season of stillness.
This offering is hosted live and in person in Toronto, with space for 15 of us.

A Blessing for this season
Rabbi Sandra Lawson writes about the Haskiveinu prayer:
Hashkiveinu is a prayer that is said only at night. Now.. if you can imagine a prayer asking God to protect us, because the night is scary. Imagine a time where there was not light pollution, no street lights, no car lights, no nothing and you couldn’t even see directly in front of you and that’s when this prayer was written.
Here is an interpretive translation I wrote last week. I offer it for the dark months of winter that for many of us feel just as scary as an unlit night. The literal imagery in the text is about comforting us as we lie down in the dark and uplifting us to come back to life in the dawn.
May we all feel held through this time in safety and comfort:
[In this season of darkness,] may we rest knowing we are safely held in wholeness and peace. And that we will be guarded to safely rise up again, to life. Spread over us a shelter of (Y)our peace.
And guide us with your wisdom to continue to choose life.
Help us for the sake of all we are. Shield and protect us from all that may come to cause us harm. Distance us from our mistakes [so we can see them and heal them rather than clinging to them.] In the shadow of your wings, may we nestle into your soft womb, wrapped inside You until we become indiscernible from You. When it feels like we are leaving you, help us see that we are always coming back- to life, to wholeness from this moment until forever. Blessed are You, Guardian of the people wrestling with Divinity.
